Dubai school raises tuition fee by 90%

In these times of economic uncertainty, Dubai Modern High School has increased the tuition costs by an enormous 90%. This hike comes about with its move to a new campus.

To compare the costs, the tuition fee for grades KG I and KG II, for the academic year 2008 – 09  was AED 14,094, for 2009 – 10 jumped to AED 20,430, and for 2010 – 11 will be AED 29,620. These hikes do not include books, transportation, etc.

The parents are obviously furious over the move. Have you been faced with any sudden rise in education costs?

It is reported that the cost of secondary education rose by 25.2% and primary education by 18.7% in 2008 alone. This is a huge jump in expenses and with no significant rise in pay, many expatriates are finding it difficult to cope.
