It is the year 2020. The past twelve years have been a flurry of development in the areas of design, nanotechnology, robotics, medicine, the internet, security and law. Contrary to popular opinion, the hotel industry has not been slow on the uptake. It’s been the decade of hospitality renaissance. A coming of age, an evolution of service as it should be…and a tribute to true personalization.
Here’s a look at the hotel guest experience in the year 2020 and how guests have helped the industry become truly magnificent:
Schools in Dubai will re-open at the end of August, as scheduled, much to the dismay of parents, since they believe Ramadan fasting will be tough for children. Gulf News reports:
“All administrative and teaching staff will resume their duties on the announced date of August 24, while classes will start on August 31 in reference to the ministerial decision concerning the academic calendar that was announced earlier and there will be no delay or postponement,” said Mohammad Bin Hindi, executive director for Institutional Affairs and Supporting Services at the ministry.
Following the heavy and unexpected length of rains in Dubai and across other emirates in the UAE last week, Khaleejtimes reports:
All schools will reopen tomorrow, according to an announcement by the Dubai School Agency (DSA).The excessive rains last week created difficult transportation conditions and caused damage in many schools across the country, forcing the Ministry of Education and KHDA to close schools in Dubai. The ministry also ordered closure of schools in Sharjah and the Northern Emirates to ensure the safety of students and allow the required maintenance work to take place at schools.
A promo video of the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management in Dubai. The Academy is located near Jumeirah Beach and belongs to the Jumeirah Group of Hotels. The video also promotes the Jumeirah properties like the Burj al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Emirates Towers, etc and is mainly a marketing video with student testimonials and feature overviews. The Emirates Academy is one of the main hotel schools available in Dubai and has an affiliation with the Ecole Hotelerie de Lausanne (EHL) in Switzerland. The costs however are extremely high and for a little extra, most parents would opt to send their children to Switzerland or elsewhere in Europe / USA to complete their hotel management studies. A majority of the students in the Academy are from overseas, since Dubai offers a good sunny vacation while studying here and the Jumeirah group absorbs trainees and employees during and after their studies.
