Young expat population on the decline in Dubai?

According a news report, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce  and Industry (DCCI) has found that the population of Dubai residents aged 10-19 is ‘unsually low’. This has been attributed to the steep rise in school fees over the last year, leaving many expats no choice but to send their children back home for schooling. 

It is reported that the cost of secondary education rose by 25.2% and primary education by 18.7% in 2008 alone. This is a huge jump in expenses and with no significant rise in pay, many expatriates are finding it difficult to cope.

Although the demand for schools in Dubai is still high, (many parents have to apply for admissions at least a year ahead to ensure a place for children), this may change with the current economic climate.  What are your views?
